AUSTIN (Nexstar) — On the second day in court over a lawsuit regarding exceptions to Texas' near-total abortion ban, one doctor refuted other physicians' claims that the law is confusing, saying doctors who do not provide abortions when a patient has severe pregnancy complications are misunderstanding the law.The two-day hearing concluded Thursday, with mostly expert witnesses testifying on the second day in court. The Center for Reproductive Rights filed the lawsuit in March on behalf of 15 Texas women who said the law put their lives in danger. Attorneys called two out-of-state physicians as witnesses Thursday, who both said they found the language about exceptions in Texas' abortion law to be confusing. People on Colorado’s individual health insurance market could see an average premium increase of 10% next year, though less for people on Colorado Option plans, if requested rate changes are approved.The state Division of Insurance and Gov. Jared Polis’ office announced the requested rate changes Thursday. The division will consider and decide on the requests in the fall, with a possibility they decline during regulators’ review process. A Texas man has been charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a teen girl who he allegedly abducted at gunpoint and then drove to Los Angeles County earlier this month.The United States Department of Justice announced Thursday that Steven Robert Sablan, 61, of Cleburne, Texas, has been charged with one count of kidnapping and one count of transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.Charging documents state that Sablan approached the victim as she was walking on the street in San Antonio, Texas on July 6. He allegedly pulled out a black handgun and told the victim to get in his car or else he would harm her. Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department are searching for a suspect reportedly involved in a shooting Thursday in the Historic South-Central neighborhood of Los Angeles that may have injured at least one person. Police responded to the area of Hill Street and Adams Boulevard after calls about a shooting near a liquor store came in at around 4:42 p.m. Aerial footage from Sky5 confirmed that medical personnel with the Los Angeles Fire Department were outside the liquor store, with reporter Gil Leyvas saying the shooting victim had been transported to a nearby hospital. A Los Angeles man who was found dead at a trailhead in Death Valley National Park was identified on Thursday.The hiker was confirmed to be Steve Curry, 71, from Sunland, according to the Inyo County Coroner’s Office.Curry was found collapsed outside of a restroom at Golden Canyon around 3:30 p.m. amid a blistering heatwave as temperatures hit 121°F in the area.National Park Service officials believe Curry had likely just been hiking on the popular trail shortly before he died.Earlier in the day, Curry was interviewed at Zabriskie Point by a reporter with the Los Angeles Times. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Two people were arrested on Sunday after items were stolen from a San Francisco Safeway and shots were fired, the San Francisco Police Department said. The incident took place at Safeway Portrero Center located at 2300 16th Street. Officers from SFPD's Mission Station responded to the store after a threats call.
